The Puppy Mill Warriors
Magmo had illustrated the Puppy Mill Warriors after adopting their dog Dino, a Tibetan Spaniel mix, from the Little Forgotten Friends Rescue, directed & founded by Maria LaRocca. Magmo and wife Tomoko had also attended this years Westminster Dog Show in N.Y.C. and was very surprised to see how so many dogs are pampered and considered "best of breed", while thousands of other less fortunate dogs trapped in the puppy mill industry go forgotten. Magmo's Puppy Mill Warriors are inspired by real life dogs from rescues, pounds, breeders and pet stores. Rescue pups may not ever be awarded "best in show" but will be some of the best friends you could ever have. Magmo hopes that the story of the Puppy Mill Warriors will help to raise awareness of the terrible puppy mill industry and save the underdogs.

The Puppy Mill Warriors series is available as archival Gicleé
prints on 100% cotton etching paper. Each print is signed and numbered in limited
editions of 27. The series is currently being sold thru the F.U.E.L. Collection Gallery in Philadelphia. Each print is $300.00, with 50% of proceeds going directly to charity. Prints can be shipped to the gallery for pick up or delivered to a personal address.

The Story
Survivors of an underground world of cruelty, cold wire cages, filthy
living conditions and merciless breeding, despite mental sickness and
physical deformities, The Puppy Mill Warriors live against all odds.
These dogs, once victims of neglect and abuse, have vowed to destroy
the puppy mill industry once and for all.
These rebellious warriors may not descend from the elite bloodlines of purebred pedigrees, that are all to often publicized in the media as the next trendy accessory or status symbol, but rather represent the less fortunate pups; abandoned muts, boutique hybrids, and rescues.
DINO The Furocious
Leading the the fight is Dino the Furocious, a
boutique hybrid experiment gone awry. Dino knows the horrors of the
puppy mill industry as he himself was rescued from one. With trusty
battle-axe in paw Dino's furocity in battle is unmatched. The puppy
mills use large barns and warehouses to house there victims, but there
is no puppy mill big enough to withstand Dino's battle axe attack. Dino
knows no retreat and will not stop until all his fellow mill puppies
have been rescued!
MUNCH
Bravely battling along side Dino is Munch, a rescued Shepard
mix. Search and rescue comes naturally to Munch as he tracks the
delivery routes of the puppy mill transporter vans across the nation.
These vans travel hundreds of miles packed with puppy mill victims for
distribution to pet shops across the country. The vans are often filthy
and dangerously over capacity. With a few swings of his spiked ball and
chain, Munch makes sure this will be the vans last stop.
POOCH
Pooch had been a victim of abuse since a small puppy. Her previous
owners repeatedly kicked her, causing her to developed a fear of black
shoes. This little Bichon Frise knows all to well about growing up the
hard way and has vowed to never let what happened to her as a pup
happen to another. Her fur is thick and knotty and always seems to have
twigs and branches tangled within it. Pooch doesn't mind the timbers
twisted in her fur, because she uses them to set the dreaded puppy
cages a blaze. Pooch's fiery torch burns to set the puppies free.
SAM
Sam is actually short for Samantha, who is a
midget-beagle-dwarf. Don't let Sam's small size deceive you, she is one
of the bravest dogs among the Puppy Mill Warriors. Sam shows no fear
and because of here tiny size can easily sneak into the puppy mill
kennels unnoticed. Sam is always the first one inside. Once Sam has
the scent she wastes no time in freeing the the frightened pups from
the kennel dungeons. When all pups are free she sounds her bone bugle
to alert Dino and Munch to lead the attack. No mater how big, heavy, or
strong, there is no lock, chain, or cage that Sam can't open.
TANK
What do you get when you mix Mastiff with Basset Hound:
TANK, a hybrid oddity who had fought to survive since day one. It's not
hard being tough with a name like Tank. Many mill puppies are abused
and maimed, with their injuries untreated the puppies are left for
dead. Tank to the rescue! With his giant ears Tank can hear calls for
help from miles away and with his powerful front paws he carries the
wounded to safety. On top of his extra long and extra wide body tank
carries all the medical supplies he needs to help the less fortunate
survive and live another day.
WHISKEY
Whiskey is a Cocker Spaniel from the
spirit world. Many puppies trapped in the puppy mill industry feel
sad, scared and alone. Whiskey the spirit spaniel visits them in their
dreams and reminds them not to give up hope for a better life. Puppies
wake up happy to find a little snack left for them by Whiskey. Whiskey
is only visible to the puppies and to the people who help them.
Invisible to the puppy mill workers, whiskey has been known to make
kennel keys and sandwiches disappear.
MURPHY
Murphy prowls the streets for the 411 for
all puppy mill activities taking place through out the city. Murphy
was born and raised on the mean streets of Brooklyn. Aways looking for
the puppy mill big boss, Murphy is tough as nails and loves to shake
down pet store owners and fancy puppy boutiques that support the puppy
mill industry. Murphy's a Brooklyn Boxer whose not afraid to use a
little force to help out his little friends.
MARIA
Maria is a fairy goddess that has
dedicated her life to help save puppies from all over the world. She
guides and protects the Puppy Mill Warriors in all of their battles.
Maria has the magical power to speak to dogs and humans. She turns no
puppy away and loves all her little furry friends. Maria lives to bring
puppies and people together to live happier lives. Maria is the heart
and soul of the Puppy mill Warriors!
Together they fight as the Puppy Mill Warriors!
